BAWN Announces Certified Green Professional (CGP) Builders
Carson City, NV - February 2, 2009 - The Builders Association of Western Nevada is proud to announce our first 2009 graduates of the Certified Green Professional (CGP) course provided through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Congratulations go out to Tom Garretson of Garretson-Furgerson Construction and Ben Smith of BSA Construction. Ben Smith says, "We are very excited to take this step and contribute to our community the things that will continually improve it, like green building practices. We have committed our company to this endeavor. Now that I am officially certified in this area, I look forward to the continued use of green building practices at our neighborhood "City View Green Homes", future developments and building projects for our customers!"
Out of six CGP's in all of Nevada, five are located right here at BAWN! Graduates of this course have learned how green homes provide buyers with lower energy costs and higher value. They have discussed strategies for incorporating green building principles into homes without driving up the cost of construction, and learned how green homes provide buyers lower maintenance, better indoor air quality and better long term value.
For more information on any of our Certified Green Professional Builders please call BAWN at 775-882-4353 Monday through Friday from 8 to 5.
Education Highlights First Quarter 2009
The Education Program is off to a fantastic start thanks to all the members who have participated so far this year. We have had two seminars and one NAHB class so far, and all were very well attended. The month of March has one more seminar and the much anticipated "Technology for Trade Partners" one day class on March 27th. The seminar will cover the timely topic of the new "EPA Lead Paint Law" going into effect in April 2010. Both of these topics are highly practical courses that quite a few of our Builders and Associates will find helpful.
It cannot be stressed enough how beneficial the Technology for Trade Partners class will be for your businesses. You will learn how to run these systems so much more efficiently with your tradesmen!
- Scheduling
- Purchase Orders, Variance PO's and Lien Waivers
- Customer Touch Point Process
- Customer Relationship Management
- Sales
Your overall business will benefit because you will be better equipped to manage prospects, projects, trades, employees and customers with less effort and more efficiency (the part where technology comes in!), which can only increase your bottom line! Call Christina to get registered for this class now! It is being held on March 27th from 9 to 5 at Western Nevada College and costs $175 per student. Owners, send your project managers, or whomever is in charge of your daily operations! Operations Managers, who in your trade base will benefit from learning this?? BRING THEM TOO! The 50/50 payment plan is good until March 20th, 2009.
